High Temperature Solar Thermal

This report, prepared by consultants Wyld Group and MMA, examines the status of high temperature solar thermal technology (HTST) and its possible future in Australia. The report concludes it is unlikely that HTST will benefit significantly through to 2020 from the Australian government’s expanded Mandatory Renewable Energy Target. Australia's National Electricity Market

The 2008 NEMMCO Statement of Opportunities has been released, which looks at the electricity supply-demand balance and the annual transmission revue. The South Australia - Victoria region is predicted to reach a Low Reserve Condition in 2008/09 with a reserve deficit of 168 MW, while Queensland and NSW are not expected to reach this condition until 2014. Green Gold Rush

The report identifies six ‘green collar’ industries with great potential for growth and development: renewable energy, energy efficiency, sustainable water systems, biomaterials, green buildings, and waste and recycling. Australia could generate up to 850,000 green collar jobs by 2030 and multi-billion dollar export opportunities, according to the report by the Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU) and Australian Conservation Foundation (ACF).
